On a sunny and blustery day with the wind blowing across the pitch East won the toss and decided to bat some good bowling and an excellent run out restricted east to 36 for 3. An excellent partnership of 103 between B.Rudolph and B.Phillips set North Devon the daunting task of chasing 221 to win. Credit must be given to the North bowling attack who succeeded in taking all ten of East Devon wickets of the last ball of the innings.
An excellent opening partnership of 71 for the first wicket between T.Brend and K. Latham set a good platform for the run chase. However good bowling and some rushes of blood contributed to a middle order collapse to effectively end the run chase.
Declan Smale came in and with C.Webb frustrated the East Devon bowlers with stubborn defence and some very effective strong hitting to leave him on 23 Not Out and secure a Draw.
